Barcelona are eyeing a sensational move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as they plan for life after Robert Lewandowski, according to reports in Spain.
Mundo Deportivo’s Gabriel Sans told Turkish outlet Radyospor that the Catalan giants have placed Osimhen high on their striker shortlist. “Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Osimhen and he’s definitely a player they want,” Sans revealed, adding that the club plans to open talks for the Galatasaray star in 2026.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano backed the report, confirming that Barça are “for sure” searching for a new No. 9 with Lewandowski expected to depart when his contract expires next June. Osimhen is among several elite forwards being monitored as the club make regular calls to stay updated on the striker market.
The 26-year-old, who joined Galatasaray from Napoli for €75 million, has a clause preventing him from joining an Italian side for two years—potentially easing Barcelona’s pursuit. Galatasaray would, however, demand a fee exceeding what they paid Napoli after the Nigerian’s prolific form in Turkey, where he has netted 43 goals in just 50 games.
Osimhen’s career took an unexpected turn last year when Chelsea failed to agree personal terms, prompting Napoli to offload him and Galatasaray to swoop in. Now, Barcelona could complete the move the Premier League club could not.
Dusan Vlahovic also remains an option, particularly as he could be available on a free transfer next summer. Yet, Osimhen’s consistency and proven pedigree in Serie A make him the standout choice for Hansi Flick’s team.
Julian Alvarez of Manchester City is reportedly Barcelona’s dream target, though his €200 million price tag makes a move unrealistic under the club’s current financial constraints.
With Osimhen’s star continuing to rise, a future move to the Camp Nou could finally see the Nigerian earn his long-awaited place among Europe’s elite.
