Spain and Barcelona talisman, Lamine Yamal, has won the Men’s Young Player of the Year at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
The Barcelona forward who has won the award twice before tonight clinches the award for the third time following Barcelona’s impressive La Liga victory and Spain’s triumph at the 2026 World Cup.
“It is an honor to be here and receive this prize,” Yamal said.
“I would have liked to see my team-mate Cubarsi here because I think this prize should have been for him. He has been playing at an excellent level for some time.
“This is my third year up here for this prize. I would like to thank my club and my national team.
“Speaking about this one specifically, this one should have been for Curbasi,” he added.
When asked by Thierry Henry if the award is what he had hoped to win at the ceremony, Yamal nervously laughs it off.
Yamal is also a contender for the Ballon d’Or, but he wins this award for the third year in a row.
