Oluwasola Adebayo, a middle-aged woman, died after reportedly drooping while accompanying her child to a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) center in Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore Local Government Area, Ondo State.

According to Channels Television, the incident occurred on Tuesday and caused uncertainty in the community because eyewitnesses reported that she began to feel weak immediately after arriving near the examination venue before collapsing.

It was stated that she was declared dead on the scene despite attempts to revive her.

At the time of the occurrence, her child was apparently writing the UTME inside the examination hall, ignorant of the catastrophe unfolding outside.

Residents described the scene as distressing, with passersby gathering in shock as news of her sudden death spread through the area.

The cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed. DSP Abayomi Jimoh, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the incident, saying “authorities were notified of the sudden death in the community.”

He added that “the family of the deceased had been contacted and, following verification, her remains were released to a relative who identified himself as Apapa Olamilekan, an officer of the Nigeria Legion in Akure.”

The 2026 UTME commenced nationwide on Thursday, with over 2.2 million candidates sitting the exercise across 966 accredited computer-based test centers under requisite security arrangements and largely stable operational systems, apart from isolated disruptions in some locations.
