Tiwa Savage, the Nigerian singer, has celebrated 12 years of ‘Once Upon a Time’, her debut album.

The album was released in 2013 and features hit songs such as ‘Kele Kele Love’, ‘Love Me’, ‘Without My Heart’, ‘Ife Wa Gbona’, ‘Folarin’, ‘Olorun Mi’, and ‘Eminado’.

It was produced by Don Jazzy, Mavin Records founder, alongside Spellz and several other notable producers.

In a post via X on Friday, Savage said she poured her heart into the album and is proud to still be standing 12 years later.

She thanked her fans, whom she described as “amazing soldiers”, for their continued support.

She added that her next project would be “raw” and not influenced by trends or streaming performance, similar to how her debut was created.

“I poured my heart into it and now, 12 years later, I’m still here, still standing and ready to release another iconic body of work,” the Afrobeats singer said.

“A project that’s raw, creating something I’ve always wanted to make not influenced by streams or trends, just like my first album. This journey has come full circle. Thank you to my amazing soldiers for riding with me. Still feels like the beginning, maybe because the best is still yet to come.”

Since breaking into the music scene, Savage has grown into one of Africa’s most influential artistes.

Her music has earned her global recognition and numerous awards.
