Veteran afrobeat artiste, Gabriel Oche Amanyi, better known as Terry G, has again wade in to the Wizkid, David debate by naming Wizkid as the greatest Nigerian music artiste of all time.
The Free Madness crooner stated this on his X account on Monday, in what he described as the legendary status Wizkid has built, enjoyed, and maintained over the years.
He, however, maintained his earlier position from last month, saying that Burna Boy is currently the biggest at the moment.
The music star, during his appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu, Husband Material, and Toun Cole, in April, weighed in on the long-standing Wizkid versus Davido debate.
He posted, “Concerning what I said on the Honest Bunch Podcast that was posted a few weeks ago, my take still stands. Yeah, currently, Burna is the biggest, but when it comes to all-timers, I’ll give it to Wiz. Y’all can’t deny the works and the legendary status he built for himself. WIZ is HIM!!!
“Not posting Wiz to chase clout, just reminiscing all he’s done for the CULTURE!!! I’m content with what I have worked for, lol… but He’s HIM, I repeat!!!
“Muthafvck the BIG 3, nigga it’s just BIG WIZ… nigga BUM!!! WIZ is HIM.”
In the April-released podcast, Terry G gave his position about the ace musicians, Davido included.
“The Wizkid vs. Davido debate, to me, is lame. Davido is the king of Africa. He has an African audience. He sings unapologetic African music,” Terry G said.
However, the singer was quick to distinguish Wizkid’s musical approach from that of Burna Boy, whom he hailed as the true “king” with both continental and international appeal.
“But Wizkid’s mindset is targeted at crossover. His music does not relate to us (Africans).
“Burna Boy owns Africa and International. He is their king. Burna ahead of the two of them,” Terry G said in pidgin English
