RJ Mitte, the American actor and disability rights advocate most famous for his role as Walter White Jr. in the TV series Breaking Bad, has passed away at the age of 34.
According to reports from US entertainment media outlets such as Page Six and The Sun, the actor passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, in Brownsville, Texas.
A county official confirmed his death, as reported by Page Six.
Mitte’s representatives, in a statement obtained by US entertainment publications, voiced their sorrow over his passing.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” the statement read.
His representatives likewise asked that the family be given privacy while they mourn.
US media have carried reports concerning the circumstances surrounding Mitte’s death, yet the cause of death has not been independently confirmed in the accounts available for this story.
Born Roy Frank Mitte III in Jackson, Mississippi, Mitte was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was three years old.
As a teenager he moved to Hollywood, where he took on smaller roles before earning recognition as Walter “Flynn” White Jr. in Breaking Bad, which ran from 2008 to 2013.
Mitte had cerebral palsy, just like his character. In the series, though, he altered his speech and relied on forearm crutches to depict a more pronounced form of the condition. He featured in 56 episodes of the Emmy-winning drama.
Outside of Breaking Bad, Mitte appeared in productions such as the Netflix series The Guardians of Justice and films like The Oak Room and The Recall.
He also pushed for better representation of people with disabilities across the entertainment industry.
He collaborated with organizations such as United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, and he was president of The Mitte Foundation.
In 2025, Mitte got engaged to his longtime partner, Kennedy Suarez. TMZ covered the engagement that October.
