    The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has joined thousands of Nigerians in mourning the passing of Stanley Nwabia, CEO Firewood Media.

    Nwabia is a popular social commentator on Twitter, he died aged 43.

    Family sources say he died in the early hours of Sunday following an unsuccessful blood transfusion procedure in Lagos.

    Reacting to his death on Twitter, Atiku wrote, “It is a cause for sobering emotions to read about the sudden demise of Stanley Nwabia.

    “A patriotic Nigerian and forthright supporter of our great party. God Almighty console his family and may his soul Rest In Peace,” he tweeted signing off with his initials AA.

    Mr Nwabia’s last tweet was on September 25. He appeared to be asking himself a rather deep question.

    Here’s what he tweeted, “Stanley Nwabia, what is the pathway to securing a resilient future for your family?” Me: That time when rain was falling, I take umbrella outside. I come and see plenty people inside rain. But plenty breeze started blowing, it come and spoil my umbrella. So I come and go inside.”

    Mr Nwabia hails from Abia state but was born in Lagos where he has lived most of his life. He was survived by his wife and four children.

    Mr. Nwabia is known for his criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government and is highly perceived as a supporter of the PDP.
