Striker Olufela Olomola has joined Yeovil Town Football Club on loan from Premier League side Southampton.

Olomola who was born in London to Nigerian parents, Olomola is a former Arsenal youth graduate.

The 19-year-old becomes the Glovers’ sixth summer signing, joining until January.

The striker made his Saints first-team debut last season and is now relishing his first taste of senior football away from St Mary’s.

“I’m buzzing to be here,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.

“I wanted to get a loan move sorted as soon as possible and I’m happy to be here now.

Olomola featured on the bench for Claude Puel’s side in both the Premier League and Europa League before making his debut in the EFL Cup against Sunderland, and feels he has gained a lot from his time with Southampton’s stars.

“Seeing the first team play on a weekly basis was a great experience, some of the quality is unbelievable and I hope to one day be in that place,” he said

“You gain a lot because you see the ability you need but not just the ability, the work you need off the ball to get to that level as well.”

Despite Olomola’s trip to Huish Park being his first venture away from Hampshire, he links up with a familiar face in former team-mate Bevis Mugabi.

Prior to joining Darren Way’s side, Olomola admits to speaking to Town’s previous Southampton recruit.

He said: “(Bevis said) they made him feel at home here and it’s a very welcoming club.

“He said the manager was great to him and gave him games under his belt. I had a chat with him and he had nothing but good things to say about this club.”
