Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has fortified places of worship, and critical installations, and deployed human and material resources across the nooks and crannies of the nation’s capital to ensure the safety of residents during the Easter celebration.

Idoko Samuel, the NSCDC’s spokeswoman, confirmed in a statement yesterday that the commandant, Mr. Olusola Odumosu, had authorized the deployment of 5,230 people.

He stated that the deployment, which includes all intelligence and tactical assets at the command’s disposal, was prompted by the necessity to address security concerns in the nation’s capital as well as potential threats.

Odumosu, who addressed principal officers in Abuja, stated that in response to an intelligence report of a probable attack this season in the FCT, the command has deployed covert men for observation and intelligence gathering to foil such a planned attack.

According to him, the leadership also sent all special squads, including the Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Special Crack Squad (Operation Adaka-su), and Agro Rangers, to maintain law and order.

He stated that consequent upon the above, “we wish to assure residents of the territory of the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that they have a safe and peaceful environment during the Easter celebration period and beyond.”

Odumosu urged citizens to embrace peace in the spirit of the festival as they join Christian believers around the world in their celebration.
