Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have assured residents across North East of Nigeria of strengthened security arrangements ahead of the Eid El Kabir celebrations.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer of Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, the military said deployments, surveillance and patrol operations had been intensified to counter possible threats from Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists during the festive period.

According to the statement, comprehensive security measures have already been activated across the theatre of operations to protect lives and property before, during and after the celebrations.

The military disclosed that intelligence reports indicated possible isolated attempts by remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters to target civilians through suicide attacks and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), especially in crowded locations.

Despite the warning, Operation Hadin Kai reassured residents that the threats had been anticipated and countermeasures fully implemented.

The Command said troops had been forward deployed to vulnerable and strategic locations across all sectors, while intelligence and surveillance assets had also been activated to strengthen monitoring and rapid response operations.

It added that patrols had been intensified in collaboration with sister security agencies, the Civilian Joint Task Force and local vigilance groups to prevent any security breach during the Eid celebrations.

Residents were advised to remain vigilant throughout the festivities by observing Eid prayers and celebrations close to their homes and familiar environments where possible.

The military also urged the public to promptly report suspicious persons, unattended objects or unusual movements to the nearest security formation.

Citizens were further encouraged to cooperate with security personnel during patrols and screening exercises and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.

Operation Hadin Kai called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, media organisations and community stakeholders to continue supporting security efforts through credible information sharing and community engagement.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action across the North East, assuring residents that the Eid El Kabir celebrations would take place in an atmosphere of peace, safety and dignity.

“Operation HADIN KAI wishes all Muslim faithful a peaceful and rewarding Eid El Kabir celebration,” the statement added.
