Chelsea and England star Cole Palmer has signed a contract extension to stay at Chelsea until 2034.
Palmer already had a contract with the Premier League club until 2033, and the England forward’s improved deal extends his time at Stamford Bridge for a further year.
“Chelsea means a lot to me, and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign, and I’m obviously very happy,” the 24-year-old said.
“Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors, and obviously to the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence, so it was only right to sign.
“Speaking to players as well, everyone has the same ambitions. I feel like we win major trophies here consistently, and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it, too.”
Palmer moved to Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, and during his spell in west London he has racked up a combined 91 goals and assists across 138 appearances.
Last season he was troubled by a nagging groin issue and was left out of the World Cup squad by England manager Thomas Tuchel, a decision that sparked controversy.
Tuchel further stated that Palmer had “missed too many opportunities” to represent England, following the player’s withdrawal from the squad for the recent Nations League fixtures.
On Friday, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso came to Palmer’s defense, insisting that his star remains committed to England and simply needs to be fully fit in order to display his best form for both club and country.
Even so, Palmer has begun the season in impressive fashion, netting four goals in seven outings across all competitions.
His tight bond with Morgan Rogers persuaded the England midfielder to leave Aston Villa for Chelsea during the close season.
The deal handed to Palmer is the most recent one given to a Blues star running into the 2030s, following contracts recently signed by Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto.
