Yahya Saidu, the chairman of Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State, has passed away in a hospital in Kaduna, barely three months after taking office.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria voiced its sorrow over his passing.
Titus Obadiah, the state ALGON chairman, praised Saidu as a devoted leader whose contributions to Fufore and Adamawa State would be deeply missed.
“It is with a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty God that I received the sad news of the passing of the executive chairman of Fufore Local Government Area, Dr. Yahaya Saidu,” the statement said.
He said the death was a loss to the chairman’s family, his constituents, and the state.
“Dr. Yahaya Saidu was a committed leader who gave his best in service to his people. My heart goes out to his family, friends, associates, and the good people of Fufore Local Government Area during this very difficult time,” he said.
Obadiah offered prayers for strength and comfort to the grieving family and the residents of Fufore.
On July 15, 2026, Saidu took the oath of office as chairman of the Fufore council, running on the People’s Democratic Party platform.
His passing comes after the death of his predecessor, Shuaibu Babas, who died while in office on April 23, 2025.
