The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has restated its commitment to the welfare and dignity of Nigerian military retirees, pledging fairness, accuracy, and transparency in the administration of their entitlements.
In recent weeks, some voluntary military retirees raised concerns over unpaid entitlements.
While the Board clarified that several of the claims were outside its mandate, it acknowledged that the gratuity component fell squarely within its responsibility.
The spokesman of the Military Pensions Board, Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed, said it promptly addressed the matter in line with its commitment to veterans’ welfare.
“To resolve the concerns, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu, Chairman of the Board, convened a series of interactive sessions with the affected retirees at the MPB headquarters in Abuja on August 6 and 8, 2025.
“The meetings, attended by the Chairman, Directors of Army, Navy, and Air Force Pensions, as well as senior officers, provided a platform for open dialogue. Retirees were guided through the detailed process of gratuity calculation, with every query addressed,” he said.
According to the Board, the engagement not only clarified the issues but also strengthened trust between the institution and the veteran community.
Adamu reiterated that the Board will continue to maintain direct communication with veterans and urged all retirees to lodge any grievances through official channels for prompt and transparent resolution.
He reaffirmed that under his leadership, and in line with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the MPB will continue to uphold inclusiveness, accountability, and improved service delivery to Nigeria’s retired servicemen and women.
“Veterans can be assured that their voices matter and that this administration remains open, proactive, and dedicated to their welfare,” the Board stated.
The MPB encouraged all retirees to remain engaged through its official communication platforms to ensure swift attention to matters within its jurisdiction.
