Controversial Nigerian content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly called DJ Chicken, has been released from detention after meeting his bail conditions.

His lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, confirmed his release in an Instagram Story on Tuesday, posting a brief message that read, “All glory to God. DJ Chicken”

Human rights activist and Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, also disclosed that the content creator’s release in a post on X.

“DJ Chicken (real name Ademola Abiodun) is free and reunited with his family, friends, and loved ones.

“No one should suffer oppression while the rest of us watch in silence, especially at the hands of powerful and corrupt forces.

“An injury to one is an injury to all. We will continue to stand up for the weak and fight against injustice wherever it occurs,” Sowore wrote.

During a livestream shared on Instagram shortly after his release, DJ Chicken was seen inside a vehicle, smiling and interacting with followers.

His lawyer was also visible inside the vehicle during the video, which was later screen-recorded and shared on social media.

DJ Chicken was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on Friday after being charged before a magistrate court in Lagos State’s Ogba region for allegedly threatening to kill Seyi Tinubu, President Bola Tinubu’s son.

He was charged with three counts of suspected violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of peace, and making threats to kill following a viral video in which he said President Tinubu would not be re-elected in 2027.

Following public reaction, the video producer reversed the statement, claiming it was a prank intended to draw attention and increase his popularity.

Despite his apology, he was detained and later arraigned.

After pleading not guilty, the court granted him ₦1 million bail and two sureties in the same amount.

The court also ordered that one surety be a civil servant and the other a community leader who has landed property in Lagos State.

Both sureties were required to produce three years of tax clearance, utility bills, National Identification Number information, and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency registration, with one of them being a blood relative of the defendant.

The case was adjourned to August 3, 2026, with the court initially ordering his remand until completion of the bail conditions.

His release comes just days after the remand ruling and has sparked emotions online, with fans cheering the news while they await the continuation of his trial in August.
