    Lagos-Ibadan expressway to be completed mid-September – Umahi

    The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is expected to be finished in the middle of September, according to Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, years after development on the heavily used route began.

    The minister said so on Tuesday while touring the locations of finished and continuing federal government projects in the state of Lagos.

    After multiple missed deadlines, construction is still continuing on along the last section of the freeway on both sides.

    The inspection visit began at outer Marina Road at Victoria Island, a Federal Government project built using the SUKUK funding option.

    He next went to the recently restored Eko Bridge, Ijora Olopa, the Eko Bridge’s Lagoon segment, and Apapa.

    Officials from the ministry and contractors working on several projects along that axis briefed Umahi.

    As of this writing this report, the minister is also scheduled to visit other federal government projects on the Lagos and Ogun corridor, including the Deep Sea Ports, the renovated Apapa Oshodi Expressway, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and the Apapa-Ibadan Expressway.

    Between 2016 and 2022, a total of 8,352.94km of roads were built or repaired, according to the scorecard issued by the Ministry of Works and Housing toward the end of the previous government.
