Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, will appeal against the life sentence and additional jail terms imposed by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, according to his former lawyer and consultant, Aloy Ejimakor.

Kanu was sentenced to life in prison on counts one, two, four, five, and six; a 20-year jail term on count three with no choice of fine; and five years on count seven with no option of fine.

Speaking to reporters after the sentencing, Ejimakor said that the IPOB leader would appeal the judgment.

“We are heading to appeal,” he said.
