Galatasaray have announced that Victor Osimhen will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery on Saturday, November 7, at Acıbadem Hospital.
The Turkish Super Lig club made the announcement on Friday after an MRI scan detected a loose fragment in Osimhen’s left knee following a strain sustained during their UEFA Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart.
Following the injury, the Nigerian international striker has been ruled out of Galatasaray’s upcoming domestic match against Amed S.F.
In a statement, the club said Osimhen would undergo surgery at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital under the supervision of club doctor Yener İnce.
“Acıbadem Medical Report | Victor Osimhen. Our player Victor Osimhen, who suffered a strain in his left knee during our UEFA Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart and was found to have a loose body in MRI scans, is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery tomorrow at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, performed by our club doctor Yener İnce. Our player has therefore been removed from the squad for tomorrow’s match against Amed S. F,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, fans reacted angrily to the announcement in replies to the club’s post on X, blaming poor pitch conditions for Osimhen’s injury and demanding the resignation of those responsible for maintaining the playing surface.
