Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan urged Nigerians on Tuesday to hold Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo, and his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, accountable if she and her supporters are harmed.

Natasha stated this on her official Facebook page on Tuesday ahead of her planned homecoming rally in Kogi State.

Natasha said, “My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our peaceful Sallah celebrations today.

“However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov. Òdodo, Yahaya Bello & SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible.”

The warning came a few hours after she swore in a statement to go ahead with her scheduled travel to her constituency for the Eid-el-Fitr break and the gathering for her homecoming.

Natasha also asked her followers to avoid rumours that she had cancelled her scheduled visit.

While claiming that she had a legislative responsibility as a legislator representing her constituents, the embattled senator urged her followers to gather in large numbers to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr alongside her.

The Kogi State Government prohibited rallies and public meetings in the state on Monday, citing citing’security reports’.

The government also prohibited fishing and other activities, claiming that they had lately resulted in the deaths of two people in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette, all in Kogi Local Government Area, Kogi West.

Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information, stated that the action was intended to prevent any type of security compromise that could disrupt the state.

Similarly, the Kogi Police Command advised Akpoti-Uduagan to cancel her Sallah rally.

Miller Dantawaye, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, indicated that the planned meeting violates the state government’s recent ban on political gatherings, which was issued on Monday.

As of the time of filing this report, one of Kogi’s senators, Bashir Haroon, has uploaded a live clip of hundreds of Natasha supporters, mostly women, singing and drumming in preparation for her return.
