Borussia Dortmund produced a thrilling 3-1 win over Barcelona on the night, but it wasn’t enough to erase the damage from the first leg as the Spanish giants progressed to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2019.

With a four-goal deficit to overcome, many thought the tie was dead. But in front of a raucous home crowd, Dortmund came out swinging.

Serhou Guirassy sparked hope early, converting a cool Panenka penalty in the 10th minute after Wojciech Szczesny clattered Pascal Gross in the box.

Dortmund piled on the pressure with Emre Can, Karim Adeyemi, and Daniel Svensson all threatening, while Barcelona struggled to find rhythm.

The German side struck again early in the second half—Guirassy heading in from close range after a clever assist from Ramy Bensebaini.

But moments later, Bensebaini turned villain, accidentally deflecting Fermin Lopez’s low cross into his own net, a goal that gave Barcelona a crucial lifeline and shifted the momentum.

Still, Guirassy wasn’t done. He completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute, capitalizing on a defensive error from Ronald Araujo.

Dortmund continued to push, but a disallowed goal from Julian Brandt and resolute Barcelona defending meant the hosts couldn’t complete the miracle.

Barcelona may have lost on the night, but their first-leg dominance carried them through to a semi-final showdown with either Inter Milan or Bayern Munich.
