    Fire guts popular hotel in Anambra

    A fire in the early hours of Monday gutted the popular Sopurum Hotel, located in the Nkwelle community, Onitsha, Anambra State.

    The inferno resulted in the destruction of a large portion of the hotel building.

    At the time of filing this report, firefighters from Delta and Anambra states were on ground, tackling the issue.

    DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the incident to newsmen, stating the situation is under control.

    He said “The situation is under control”.

    He added that the inferno “started around 4:30 am on Monday, and when we got the information, our men were quickly mobilized to the scene, and they cordoned off the area to avoid any case of vandalism”.
