Afrobeats musician David Adeleke, popularly called Davido, joined his uncle and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday for a roadshow and campaign rally ahead of the governorship election on August 15.
The demonstration comes amid increased political activity in the state, as Governor Adeleke seeks a second term.
A video circulating on social media shows Davido and the governor’s son, Sina Adeleke, also known as Shina Rambo, navigating a massive crowd before leaping over railings to join the governor on the campaign stage.
Dressed in a traditional jalabiya, Davido was spotted attempting to clamber over the barricade before being helped by fans already on stage. Shina Rambo also received assistance before they both joined the governor.
On the campaign stage, Adeleke was spotted dancing and singing along to Davido’s smash song, “Feel,” one of the highlight tunes from the singer’s Grammy-nominated album, Timeless.
Davido embraced his uncle upon reaching the stage, following which the duo entertained supporters with an intense dance, prompting loud screams from the crowd.
The demonstration of their close bond rapidly became one of the rally’s most talked-about moments, with supporters cheering their exuberance.
The roadshow comes just days after Davido called for a peaceful and credible governorship race, urging voters to reject violence, intimidation, and electoral meddling while encouraging communities to exercise their democratic rights peacefully.
Governor Adeleke, who is running for a second term on the Accord Party platform, will face the All Progressives Congress candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO, in the August 15 governorship election. Political campaigns have heated up across the state as parties make final efforts to sway voters ahead of the elections.
