The Ministry of Petroleum Resources has urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and Nigerians in general to convert their vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Amb. Gabriel Aduda, said this on Monday in Abuja during the inauguration of its newly purchased two state-of-the-art 32-seater Coaster buses.

The vehicles were purchased to make worker commutes and official functions more comfortable.

The inauguration was held by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Government, the Head of the Federation’s Civil Service, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, and the ministry’s management, report said.

Aduda stated that the buses would be switched from petrol engines to CNG in accordance with the Federal Government’s commitment to energy transition.

The Permanent Secretary, on the other hand, urged other MDAs to join the CNG project because of its economic benefits.

He emphasised the government’s commitment to easing the difficulties that employees confront, particularly in the aftermath of subsidy elimination.

Aduda recalled that the ministry got federal support in 2022, allowing it to purchase the new buses.

He went on to say that the current administration, led by President Bola Tinubu, was dedicated to employee welfare.

While handing over the keys to the Ministry’s union executives, Aduda emphasised the necessity of maintaining the buses, urging them to guarantee regular upkeep for a prolonged service life.

He emphasised the importance of employee well-being in the context of the current Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP).

While identifying the plan as a significant initiative endorsed by the Federation’s Head of Civil Service, Aduda expressed his appreciation for her excellent human-centred leadership.

Mrs. Patricia Umo, Director of General Services, stated in a statement that the buses will be used as welfare provisions to motivate personnel to provide effective service.

Mr. Dipo Agboola, a union leader, also spoke and thanked the Permanent Secretary and his management team for their forward-thinking effort.

Agboola stated that the buses would be changed to CNG within the next seven days, proving the workforce’s respect and commitment to their jobs.
