Harry Kane is ready to begin discussions with Bayern Munich over extending his contract, with the England captain entering the final 12 months of his current deal.
The 33-year-old striker joined the Bundesliga champions from Tottenham Hotspur for £86.4m in August 2023 on a four-year contract.
Kane enjoyed another outstanding campaign last season, scoring 61 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions as Vincent Kompany’s side completed a league and cup double.
He has also scored 98 goals in 94 Bundesliga appearances and claimed three successive Bundesliga Golden Boot awards.
Kane confirmed that talks with Bayern are expected to begin soon, with both sides relaxed about the situation.
“Like I’ve said before, we’re calm, I think they’re calm with the situation.”
He added that the time was right to start discussions because only one year remains on his contract.
The England captain also scored six goals at the 2026 World Cup, taking his World Cup tally to 14 goals in 18 appearances and making him England’s all-time leading scorer in the competition.
Kane plays down Ballon d’Or focus
Kane is among the favourites to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or after his prolific season, but the striker insisted the individual award is not currently his priority.
“The Ballon d’Or is as big as it gets, from an individual point of view,” Kane said.
“I know I had a great season last season, but the focus is on this new season.”
Kane said the award is ultimately decided by voters, the media and others outside his control.
“Obviously, it would be amazing if it was to happen,” he said, adding that the decision remains two or three months away.
The comments come as Bayern prepare for another season with Kane leading their attack, while negotiations over his future are set to begin in the coming days.
