The executive governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has closed down Dosunmu Market in Lagos Island after a fire incident on Tuesday. No fewer than 14 buildings were gutted by the fire, and four structures collapsed as a result of the incident on Tuesday. Bandits reportedly killed two farmers who were evicted from their ancestral houses in the Umogidi village of the Entekpa Council Ward in Benue State’s Otukpo Local Government Area. Two more people were alleged to have been injured, while another was kidnapped by the bandits in a second onslaught. Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the former Minister of Science and Technology in the cabinet of ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, has died. Onu, a former governor of Abia State, died of a brief illness in an unidentified hospital in Nigeria. The Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has warned against non-medical persons possessing medical tools, stating that it is illegal and punishable by law. Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has described as “white lie”, the claims by Air Peace saying they have sold out until September all their Lagos-London tickets. Gunmen attacked a police check-point on the Abakaliki-Enugu Highway, setting fire to a police patrol van on Thursday. According to reports, the event occurred near the Ishieke Junction on the outskirts of the Abakaliki metropolis. The Anambra State Police Command has disclosed that it has raided certain hideouts purportedly belonging to gunmen who specialise in targeting police formations in the state.  SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesman, said in a statement on Wednesday that the operation was carried out on Friday by the state’s Joint Security Force in the Ogbaru forest in the Ogbaru Local Government Area.
