The Nigerian police force has warned Nigerians against commenting “carelessly and sarcastically on social media.” The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, issued the warning in a statement on his X page on Monday. Adejobi warned Nigerians not to say what they cannot defend in court or when summoned by the police. Music producer Dr. Roy has refuted reports of him accusing Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo of owing him for songs he produced for her.  Several media outlets had reported that Dr. Roy berated her over unpaid debts for songs he produced for her. President Bola Tinubu will open the African Counter-Terrorism Summit in the nation’s capital, Abuja, on Monday.  This was announced in a statement signed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, and shared on his Facebook page on Sunday. Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, has condemned the attacks on Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Areas in Plateau State.  In a statement on Sunday, Obi, who described the attacks as “regrettable,” noted that “these sustained waves of attacks in Plateau State and in every part of the nation have continued to distress every well-meaning Nigerian.” Chronicle NG reports that no fewer than 18 people lost their lives as gunmen renewed attacks in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday, claiming about 18 lives. Olugbenga Olawore, a pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, was kidnapped along with other passengers on a 14-seater bus in Oyo State.  The clergyman and other passengers were kidnapped on Friday night near the Maya axis of Lanlate-Eruwa Road. The clergyman claimed to be returning from Ipapo town, where he had gone to finalize the burial preparations for his mother. Troops of the Nigerian Army, working in conjunction with hybrid forces, have neutralised terrorists in an operation conducted in Kana Village, Biu Local Government Area of Borno, and Nasarawa states. During the raid, two AK-47 rifles, one motorbike, six bicycles, and other sundry items were recovered from the terrorists. Maxwell Azzarello, the man who set himself ablaze outside the New York City court where former US President Donald Trump is standing trial, has died of his injuries, police said early Saturday. Chronicle NG had reported that Azzarello, from St. Augustine, Florida, set himself ablaze outside of Trump’s trial venue. According to witnesses, he threw pamphlets into the air on Friday just before dousing himself with an unspecified liquid and setting himself on fire in a park near the courthouse.
