The Air Force said Saturday that two military planes collided in midair during training at an air base in the Philippines, killing four pilots.
The single-propeller SF-260 aircraft crashed Friday afternoon at Fernando Air Base, south of Manila.
“Both aircraft went down within the base perimeter, with no other casualties reported,” Philippine Air Force spokesman Colonel Alvin Capinguian said in a statement.
An investigation was launched to establish what caused the mishap, while Capinguian said the air force’s SF-260 fleet had been temporarily grounded as a precaution.
In recent years, several deadly crashes have involved Philippine military aircraft.
In May, another SF-260 crashed during a training flight in Benguet province in the northern Philippines, killing two military pilots.
