Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has pledged to quit if former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is not prosecuted. In a chat with editors at the EFCC Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, on Tuesday, the anti-graft agency chairman vowed to pursue Mr. Bello’s prosecution to its logical conclusion. In a video received by our correspondent in Abuja, she conveyed her “sincere apologies” and stated that she wishes the entire situation had not occurred. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen 300 unlawful FOREX accounts that traded on a peer-to-peer platform. The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, disclosed that the accounts were suspended on Monday due to a court order. Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Olukoyede said that over $15 billion was transferred through one of the FX platforms in the last year, in violation of banking norms. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has detained Hadi Sirika, former Minister of Aviation, in connection with an ongoing money laundering investigation of N8,069,176,864.00. According to a news report, the indicted former Minister of Aviation appeared at the Federal Capital Territory Command of the EFCC at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The federal government has reportedly shut down Lead British International School in Abuja following the bullying of Namtira, a student of the institution. According to reports, the minister of justice, the minister of education, and human rights organizations were at the school on Tuesday to investigate the incident.
