The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has threatened to penalise deposit money banks (DMBs) for rejecting obsolete and tiny denominations of US dollars.  In a circular sent by the Ag. Director, Currency Operations Department, CBN, Mr. Mohammed Solaja, the central bank stated that its market intelligence had indicated the continuous rejection of the impacted dollar notes, which it termed unacceptable. The death of Prof. Ruth Wazis, a former Head of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri, has been confirmed by the Borno State Police Command. Chronicle NG gathered that Wazis died while opening the gate to her residence at Judari Polo Maiduguri on Tuesday. Five police officers assigned to the Zone 6 Police Headquarters in Cross River State are the subject of an investigation by the force over allegations of kidnapping and extortion of N3 million from their victims.  It was discovered that the officers, who are currently detained, allegedly committed the crime while on patrol on the Ikom-Calabar route. Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago revealed that the state government will provide N5 billion for the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps’ (NYSC) permanent orientation camp within the state.  Along with 20 cows and a caravan load of rice, he also announced a gift of N200,000 as a ‘bonus’ to all the corps members under Batch B Stream I assigned to the state to make their stay more comfortable. Mexican officials investigating footages shared on social media showing bodies in a dumper truck have found 19 corpses in La Concordia, in the southern state of Chiapas. The victims were all male, clad in black, and wearing tactical vests similar to those worn by Mexico’s strong criminal organisations. Chike Olemgbe, Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, announced on Tuesday the suspension of four members for allegedly plotting to impeach him. The suspended lawmakers were Ahiazu-Mbaise, Samuel Otuibe; Ezinihitte-Mbaise, Henry Agbasonu; Okigwe, Chidiebere Ogbunikpa; and Dominic Ezerioha of Oru-West.
