The Federal Government, through the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, will arraign ten persons for terrorism today (Monday) in connection with the N4 billion in illicit firearms and ammunition brought into the country in June.  It was gathered that the armaments centre has completed its investigation into the enormous stockpile of weaponry and ammunition discovered by the Nigerian Customs Service in Port Harcourt in June. The Delta State Police Command has arrested Emmanuel Umukoro for allegedly killing and burning his mother, Mrs. Fatima Umukoro, a school proprietress, in the Warri region of the state.  According to reports, the tragedy occurred in the late hours of Saturday night, leaving the woman’s neighbours in shock. Over the past four years, 1,008 soldiers have resigned from the Nigerian Army.  The statistic came from media reports on resignations from 2020 to 2024. According to sources, the Nigerian Army has approved the retirement of at least 59 troops by 2023. In August of this year, 196 soldiers resigned from the Nigerian Army; in 2022, a total of 261 troops resigned; in 2021, 127 resigned; and 365 resigned in 2020. The estranged ex-wife of Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has described him as a domestic abuser who subjected her to frequent domestic abuse. At least three persons were confirmed dead, with others sustaining injuries, when an oil tanker rammed into 10 vehicles in the Maryland axis of Lagos on Sunday. Confirming the tragic incident, the Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor, revealed this in a statement on Sunday. No fewer than 48 persons have been given mass burials after a petrol tanker explosion in Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State. The incident occurred early on Sunday morning when the petrol tanker collided with a trailer truck carrying passengers and cattle from Wudil in Kano State.
