Parents of boarding students of Eva Adelaja Girls Grammar School in Bariga, Lagos, came to the streets on Sunday to protest the Lagos State government’s decision to raise boarding tuition from N35,000 to N100,000.  The protesters assembled in huge numbers, screamed slogans, and demanded an immediate reversal of the fee increase. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced that it will sell the petrol lifted from the Dangote Refinery at a price above N1,000 per litre in the far north. Olufemi Soneye, the NNPC spokesperson, said this on Monday in a statement titled ‘NNPC Ltd. Releases Estimated Pump Prices of PMS from Dangote Refinery Based on September 2024 Pricing’. The Zamfara State Government has verified the deaths of 40 people as a result of a boat accident in Gummi Local Government Area of the state.  It was gathered that a boat carrying more than 40 people sank on Sunday in the Bakin Kasuwa River in the Uban Dawaki community of Zamfara state. Telecommunications operators are anticipated to begin terminating mobile telephone lines that are not linked to National Identification Numbers when the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) September 14 deadline expires.  The NCC stated in August that no SIM card would be active without a validated NIN after September 15. A High Court sitting in Ogun State has imposed an interim injunction prohibiting a planned event in memory of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) announced on Sunday that over 281 inmates are still at large after they escaped from the Maiduguri Medium Security Custodial Centre following severe flooding in the capital of Borno state last Tuesday. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has disclosed that it bought Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, from Dangote refinery at N898 per litre. Chronicle NG earlier reported that the lifting of petrol from the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery commenced on Sunday.
