The family of Daniel Ogoh, a postgraduate student at a UK university who was thought to have recently visited Nigeria, has expressed concerns about his whereabouts.  Daniel, a 27-year-old man at 6.1 feet tall, landed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on May 5th, according to his family, and his whereabouts have been unknown since. Samaila Salisu, a 38-year-old man, has denied the paternity of his estranged wife, Maryam Ibrahim’s three-month-old pregnancy. Salisu told the Sharia Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, Kaduna State that he had sexual intercourse with his wife only six times since they got married. Salisu said, “I had intercourse with her only six times since we got married. I am not aware of any pregnancy. I am just hearing the news today. Many students are reportedly trapped under the rubble of a two-story building on Ekhator Street in Benin, the state capital, which collapsed following an early morning downpour, causing alarm among the student community in Ekosodin, Edo State.  Ekosodin borders the University of Benin and has a large student population since those who are unable to find housing at the university choose to live in the area. The Kano State Police Command recently broke a large phone theft organisation, resulting in the seizure of 126 stolen mobile devices, hard narcotics, and other hazardous weaponry.  In a press statement issued Friday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, lauded the operation as a significant step forward in the state’s fight against phone snatching and armed robbery. “This success follows directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, instructing all police commands to intensify efforts in dominating public spaces to curb crimes and criminal activities,” Kiyawa stated. The federal government has agreed to pay the revenue gap created by the difference between cost-reflective prices and real tariffs paid by Kano Electricity Distribution Company users.  This was revealed in a September 2024 Supplementary Order issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission under KEDCO’s multi-year tariff order framework, which was announced on Thursday. The Kano Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has lamented an alleged victimisation of its members in some universities in the zone. Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Edo State, has been summoned by a magistrate’s court in Abuja for allegedly making a false statement on his date of birth.  A document sighted by Saturday Punch showed that Okpebholo was asked to appear before the court at noon on Friday, September 20 by Magistrate Abubakar Mukhtar. The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has reopened the nurse and midwife verification portal on its website.  Our reporter checked the NMCN portal on Saturday and found that nurses and midwives can now submit verification requests. Our correspondent confirmed that the verification portal reopened on Friday. The Federal Government spent around N701 million in three months to fund Remi Tinubu’s foreign trips to five countries, according to Saturday PUNCH.  In 2023, the Federal Government allocated N1.5 billion for vehicle procurement for the First Lady’s Office, as outlined in the N2.1 trillion supplementary budget approved by the National Assembly.
