The Federal Government reported on Saturday the arrest of two leaders of Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina fi-Biladis Sudan, an Al-Qaeda affiliate in Nigeria, believed to be behind the Kuje jailbreak. Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, announced this during a press briefing at the National Security Adviser’s Office in Abuja. Air Canada announced that it will restart flights on Sunday after the country’s industrial relations board ordered an end to a strike by 10,000 flight attendants, which effectively shut down the airline and slowed summer tourism. Catholic priests in Benue State have expressed concern over the recent devastation and desecration of St Paul’s Parish, Aye-Twar (Agu Centre) in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area (LGA), as well as the occupation of 26 other outstations by armed herders. No fewer than 288 thugs with dangerous weapons have been arrested by the Kano Police Command at the four local government areas where the bye-election is currently going on.
