South African state power utility Eskom said on Tuesday it will implement “Stage 6” rotational power cuts every night from 1600 to 0500 local time (1400 to 0300 GMT) until further notice due to the breakdown of several of its power generating units. A man attacked and wounded six people at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris on Wednesday morning, leaving one with serious injuries, before being shot by off-duty police officers, authorities said. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told reporters the man attacked travelers with what looked like a homemade weapon at 0642 CET (0542 GMT) at the entrance and inside the station. Gunmen have killed four persons on Nzomiwu Street in the Eziani community, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirmed that armed men shot at its officials at Awolowo Road, Ikoyi area of Lagos State. In a phone call with our correspondent, the agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, stated that the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, while the operatives were trying to intercept a truck carrying cannabis. Primary school teachers in Kuje Area Council, FCT, on Monday, embarked on an indefinite strike over the alleged failure by the Council’s Chairman to reach agreements with the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT).
