The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a woman, Catherine Ijeoma Ugwu, for allegedly defrauding a man of N6.8 million under false pretenses in Maiduguri, Borno State. Ugwu was brought on Monday before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri. The EFCC’s Maiduguri Zonal Directorate charged her with four counts related to obtaining by false pretenses, criminal misappropriation, and cheating by impersonation. The Rivers State House of Assembly has formally accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, of misconduct. The allegations were brought forward by 26 lawmakers in a notice addressed to Speaker Martin Amaewhule on Monday. Citing Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and other existing laws, the lawmakers listed multiple offences against Fubara. The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended two notorious armed robbery suspects and recovered two stolen motorcycles.
