The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has explained why it invaded the Maitama, Abuja home of a former governor of Imo state, Senator Rochas Okorocha, to effect his arrest. The anti-graft agency said it made the move after the refusal of the former governor to honour invitations after jumping the administrative bail earlier granted him by the Commission. EFCC had on January 24, 2022 filed a 17-count criminal charge bordering on diversion of public funds and properties to the tune of N2.9billion against Okorocha. Adam Namadi Sambo, a son of former Vice-President Namadi Sambo, has reportedly asked delegates to refund the N2 million each doled out to them before the election. He is vying for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Kaduna North Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives. West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma has pleaded guilty to kicking and slapping his pet cat in a video that also showed him saying “I swear I’ll kill it”. The 27-year-old admitted two offences under the Animal Welfare Act at a hearing at Thames Magistrates’ Court. Zouma’s brother Yoan, who plays for Dagenham and Redbridge, admitted one offence after an RSPCA investigation. Yoan, 24, filmed the incident, which was posted on social media. The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday released a revised timetable for the screening exercise of aspirants for the governorship, senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly but not the presidential. According to a source who spoke to Chronicle NG at the APC secretariat in Abuja, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC is waiting for directive from President Muhammadu Buhari. Felix Morka, said the timetable was approved by the National Working Committee of the party. The Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC on Monday arraigned one Raphael Otobo on a three count charge of intent to defraud before Justice (Professor) C. A. Obiozor of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State. According to the EFCC statement, Otobo is alleged to have defrauded one Kenneth Asuma Osaghe of the aggregate sum of one million naira under the false pretense of helping him secure a Canadian visa.
