Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 25 suspected internet fraudsters in some parts of Lagos State. The suspects are: Oyewole Damilola, Ovin Adekunle, Ovin Nicholas, Ridwan Iyiola, Aregbesola Tobiloba, Oladosu Saheed, Oseni Omotara, Abel Durotimi, Oyeneye Rilwan Adetola, Omoregbe Destiny Nosa, Evbonaye Olaleye, Adeyemo Abiola, Temitope Ajetonmobi, Dare-Ilori Oreoluwa David, Adekanye Ayodeji Ezekiel, Osagie Harry Odosa and Arowolo Oluwafemi Isaac. Deputy President William Ruto has been declared the winner of Kenya’s presidential election amid dramatic scenes. He narrowly beat his rival, Raila Odinga, taking 50.5% of the vote, according to the official results. Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested seven suspected internet fraudsters in Ilorin. The agency’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said they were arrested at a hotel close to a popular mall in the Kwara capital. The suspects include two clerics and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member. The anti-graft agency said the clerics were hired and lodged in the hotel to offer spiritual help to some of the alleged fraudsters. Plateau state chapter of the Association of Private School Owners of Nigeria (APSON) has disclosed that 7,000 illegal private schools were currently operating in the state. The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said that 50 people, including a newborn, were killed in building collapse due to heavy downpours. The tragedy occurred across the state since the beginning of the rainy season. The executive secretary of the agency, Yusuf Sani, told newsmen that several houses were either damaged or destroyed, rendering several families homeless. Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), says plans are ongoing to deploy drones and other technologically advanced facilities to the country’s borders in its bid to curb smuggling. The Public Relations Officer of Customs, Deputy Comptroller Timi Bomodi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that technology would help tackle the menace.
