Deputy President William Ruto has been declared the winner of Kenya’s presidential election amid dramatic scenes. He narrowly beat his rival, Raila Odinga, taking 50.5% of the vote, according to the official results. Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested seven suspected internet fraudsters in Ilorin. The agency’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said they were arrested at a hotel close to a popular mall in the Kwara capital. The suspects include two clerics and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member. The anti-graft agency said the clerics were hired and lodged in the hotel to offer spiritual help to some of the alleged fraudsters. The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said that 50 people, including a newborn, were killed in building collapse due to heavy downpours. The tragedy occurred across the state since the beginning of the rainy season. The executive secretary of the agency, Yusuf Sani, told newsmen that several houses were either damaged or destroyed, rendering several families homeless.
