The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says that 729 ballot boxes were burnt in an attack on its office in Idemili South in Anambra state. Other items that were destroyed at the INEC office include 243 voting cubicles, 256 election bags, 11 megaphones, etc in the inferno. The Court of Appeal, Abuja has set aside the judgment of a lower court barring the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from initiating either civil or criminal proceedings against a former Accountant General of the Federation, AGF, Jonah Oguniyi Otunla. A three-member panel of the Court of Appeal, in a judgment, marked: CA/A/657/2021, on Monday, January 30, 2023, held that Otunla failed to prove that there was actually a non-prosecution agreement between him and the EFCC. Justice Chukujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday adjourned the trial of Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti state, and his company, Spotless Investment Limited, over an alleged N6.9bn fraud, till March 20, 2023. The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had, on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, re-arraigned Fayose and Spotless Investment Limited on an 11-count charge bordering on money laundering and stealing to the tune of N6.9bn (Six Billion Nine Hundred Naira). Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte to undergo gallbladder surgery, a statement on the club website said. Nigeria’s public debt stock increased from N42.84 trillion (103.31 billion dollars) in the second quarter of 2022 to N44.06 trillion (101.91 billion dollars) in the third quarter of 2022. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), said this on Tuesday in its Nigerian Domestic and Foreign Debt Report for Q3 2022 released in Abuja. The report said Nigeria’s public debt stock which includes external and domestic debt grew by 2.84 per cent in Q3 of 2022.
