The Lagos State Police Command has ordered the immediate removal of the deputy police officer in charge of Okokomaiko following an extortion allegation against him. Lagos Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa ordered his removal after a phone dealer said he was extorted of N101,000 by policemen under his supervision. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Governor Hope Uzodinma and Timipre Sylva as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidates in Imo and Bayelsa states. The electoral body has announced that the governorship election in both states will hold on November 11, 2023. INEC also informed political parties that their primaries must be held on or before, April 17. Annual inflation in Nigeria increased to 22.04% in March from 21.91% the previous month, according to the National Bureau of Statistics on Saturday. Jack Douglas Teixeira, a 21-year-old member of the US Air National Guard accused of leaking top secret military intelligence records online was charged on Friday with unlawfully copying and transmitting classified material. Teixeira of North Dighton, Massachusetts, who was arrested by heavily armed FBI agents at his home on Thursday, made his initial appearance in a crowded federal court wearing a brown khaki jumpsuit.
