Stanley Nwanne, a final-year student at the University of Calabar’s Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, has committed suicide according to multiple sources. Nwanne on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, reportedly committed suicide at his flat outside the University campus. His body was discovered by his cousin, who noticed him dangling in the toilet with a rope around his neck and immediately notified neighbours. The Court of Appeal, Lagos Division has dismissed an appeal filed by Heritage Bank Plc challenging the judgment of a Lagos Federal High Court, which held that the bank never gave N200 million facility to one of its customers, as it claimed. A Lagos Federal High Court has described United Bank for Africa Plc’s (UBA) action of closing the account of one of its former staff, Ms. Olufunke Bella, without any court order as illegal, unlawful, and a breach of fundamental rights.
