The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says women in Nigeria continue to be underrepresented at all levels of government. This was contained in the NBS Statistical Report on Women and Men in Nigeria 2021, which was released on Tuesday in Abuja. According to the report, despite all attempts to increase female participation in politics and decision-making, women continue to have poor representation at all tiers and levels of governance. David Hundeyin, a Nigerian investigative journalist, has claimed that his Twitter account was suspended after he revealed the dual citizenship status of Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu. Hundeyin’s Twitter account was restricted after he revealed evidence of the president-elect of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) having undeclared dual citizenship. Finance ministers from various Commonwealth countries have called for a systemic reform of the global financial architecture to enhance access to development financing for vulnerable countries. The ministers agreed for India to be the chair and Nigeria to be the deputy chair of the Finance Ministers Working Group for a Commonwealth Call for Reform of the Global Financial Architecture.
