Justice Nyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has validated the legitimacy of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate as legitimately issued by the corps. Justice Ekwo ruled on Monday that the information presented to the court revealed that the governor was mobilised for duty in 2001 but finished it in 2003. Police arrested a man and rescued a child at the centre of a hostage standoff at Hamburg airport on Sunday, ending a crisis that had forced authorities to close the busy air hub. Seven Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) members were reportedly slain by highly armed suspected maritime pirates on the Bakana River in Rivers State’s Degema Local Government Area. The House of Representatives has described the acquisition of the N5 billion presidential yacht as unconstitutional, raising salient questions about it.
