Guinea’s ruling junta has purged 60 soldiers and prison officers from the security services after a jailbreak that saw armed commandos pluck ex-dictator Moussa Dadis Camara from prison and left nine dead, officials said Monday. Boko Haram militants have killed ten farmers in Borno State. Some of the farmers were slaughtered at Kwashabe, a rice plantation in the Zabarmari area of Jere Local Government Area, where over forty farmers were killed three years earlier, while others were killed in Kakut village in Mafa Local Government Area. Justice Nyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has validated the legitimacy of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate as legitimately issued by the corps. Justice Ekwo ruled on Monday that the information presented to the court revealed that the governor was mobilised for duty in 2001 but finished it in 2003. Police arrested a man and rescued a child at the centre of a hostage standoff at Hamburg airport on Sunday, ending a crisis that had forced authorities to close the busy air hub.
