The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has banned drone operations, fireworks and other devices capable of causing panic ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s one-day working visit to the state on Friday, November 6.
The restrictions form part of security measures introduced to ensure public safety and maintain order during the President’s visit.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, announced the directives during a news conference in Uyo on Thursday.
He said the command was working to ensure a peaceful visit and protect residents, while urging members of the public to comply with security arrangements.
Traffic Restrictions Announced
Azare advised residents and motorists to avoid routes designated for the presidential movement to allow the President’s convoy to move without disruption.
The affected roads include Airport Road, Iron Road and Ring Road III, leading to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The police commissioner also appealed to opposition political parties in the state to reschedule any political activities planned for Friday to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
He warned that the command would not tolerate attempts to disrupt the presidential visit or cause public disorder.
Azare added that security personnel were prepared to respond to any threats during the President’s engagements.
Projects Tinubu Will Commission
Tinubu is expected to inaugurate several projects executed by the administration of Governor Umo Eno.
The projects include the new terminal building at Victor Attah International Airport, Aviation Village, Ring Road III Extension and ARISE Resort Park in Uyo.
The President is also scheduled to attend an All Progressives Congress (APC) political rally ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The police have urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and observe all restrictions throughout the visit.
