Polling agency, Falcon Alliance, revealed that 43.7 per cent of respondents noted that they will vote for Dino Melaye to succeed Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Portugal’s Prime Minister Antonio Costa announced his resignation on Tuesday after he was embroiled in a corruption investigation into the awarding of energy-related contracts. “The duties of prime minister are not compatible with any suspicion of my integrity,” Costa told a press conference after briefly speaking with President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa earlier on Tuesday. “In these circumstances, I have presented my resignation to the president of the Republic,” he added. Troops of Operation Safe Haven of the Nigerian Army have arrested a lawyer at Rimin Zayam village in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Abdullahi Abubakar, a lawyer, was arrested last Saturday in “connection with the killing of one Mobile Police personnel on 2 November 2023 at Kuba village in Bokkos LGA.” This was revealed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Nigerian Army’s X account. Hooded attackers stabbed a Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) supporter ahead of the French club’s Champions League match at AC Milan, Italian police said Tuesday. The unnamed French man was “seriously injured by two stab wounds in the leg” in Milan on Monday night and taken to hospital, police said in a statement. Over 14 people, primarily children, were murdered and 19 others were injured after bandits attacked the Maulud Celebration Ground in Katsina State’s Rugar Kusa Community, Musawa Local Government Area. The bandits took at least 20 residents to an unknown place during the raid, which looks to be retaliation and lasted more than an hour.
