The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the arrest of a suspected Indian hemp farmer in Sokoto State. “It is the first such case in the history of the state”, the commandant of NDLEA in the state, Adamu Iro, told journalists in Sokoto on Saturday. Three shops and valuables worth millions of naira were destroyed on Friday by fire at Bakin Kasuwa area in the Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The Board of Immigration, Civil Defence, Fire and Correctional Services has approved the promotion of 32,361 officers from the four services. Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed details of the promotions through the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi, on Friday in Abuja. Laolu Akande, a former presidential spokesperson and Channels TV political analyst has urged President Bola Tinubu to prioritize tackling the lingering problem of procurement and pricing in Nigeria’s budget.
