The secretary for education of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Danlami Hayyo, says N7 billion has been approved to offset 25 per cent of the outstanding arrears of salaries of teachers in public primary schools. Mr. Hayyo said this during a familiarisation visit to the management of the FCT Universal Basic Education Board on Thursday in Abuja. The Kano State High Court on Thursday in Kano sentenced five vigilante members to death by hanging for stabbing one Ahmed Musa,17, to death. The convicts, Korau Sani, Elisha Ayuba, Irimiya Timothy, Auwalu Jafar, and Mustafa Haladu, attached to the Sani Abacha Youth Centre, were convicted on a two-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has raised alarm over the $3.3 billion emergency loan secured by state-owned oil company, Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) in 2023. The Lagos State Taskforce on Thursday continued its bombardment against unruly motorcycle ‘Okada’ riders who are operating on highways and restricted routes after several warnings regarding their operations. The extensive exercise which took place along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway was led by the chairman of the agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye who disclosed that these raids became necessary after warnings to okada operators fell on deaf ears. A Spanish judge on Thursday proposed that disgraced former Spanish football chief, Luis Rubiales be tried over the kiss he forced on World Cup star Jenni Hermoso. In a ruling following his preliminary investigation, Judge Francisco de Jorge concluded that the kiss “was not consensual and was a unilateral and unexpected move” by the football chief who is facing charges of sexual assault and coercion.
