Men of the Lagos State Police Command, on Thursday rescued three infants, who were locked up in a room by their grandmother in the Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun area of Lagos State. The command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the grandmother, identified as Fatimo Ganiyu, had been arrested. The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, has granted the prayers of immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, for the release of his international passport to seek medical treatment abroad. Obiano is standing trial for an N4bn theft charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, however, dismissed the preliminary objection filed by Obiano to challenge the powers of the EFCC to try him. National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Wednesday said there are no records of Nigerian children dying or falling sick from exposure to a batch of Johnson & Johnson Benylin cough syrup. NAFDAC announced a recall of the cough syrup after laboratory tests found an unacceptably high level of diethylene glycol, which is toxic to humans, prompting regulators in five other African countries also to issue recalls.
