Nigeria’s headline inflation rate has increased to 33.69 per cent in April 2024 up from 33.20 per cent recorded in March 2024, the National Bureau of Statistics has said. This represents a month-over-month increase of 0.49 per cent points in the headline inflation rate, according to the Consumer Price Index report, the NBS stated in a report on Wednesday. Troops of the Sector II Multinational Joint Task Force based in Bagasola, Chad have killed one Boko Haram terrorist in an ambush in Litri Island, situated on the border between Chad and Nigeria. The Chief Public Information Officer of the MNJTF in N’djamena, Chad, Lt.-Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, made this known in a statement on Wednesday. A Rwandan court on Tuesday rejected an appeal by a prominent opposition figure to have his previous convictions removed, disqualifying him from challenging President Paul Kagame in the July elections. Bernard Ntaganda, 55, a fierce critic of Rwanda’s iron-fisted ruler, had petitioned the High Court in Kigali in February in a bid to set aside convictions dating back more than a decade. Four suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping of University of Abuja lecturers and their children in 2021were on Monday arraigned at a Federal High Court Abuja. They were arraigned by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation before Justice Donatus Okorowo on a two-count terrorism charge.
