Dangote Refinery has petitioned the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking the annulment of the import licenses granted to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL. It also requested the annulment of licenses to Matrix Petroleum Services Limited and A. A. Rano. The refinery wondered why the companies should be allowed to import petroleum products “despite the production of AGO and Jet-A1 that exceeds the current daily consumption of petroleum products in Nigeria by the Dangote Refinery.” Dangote Refinery’s suit is marked case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1324/2024 and is pursuing N100 billion in damages from the NMDPRA.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said Monday he wants striker Kylian Mbappe to focus on scoring goals over pressing to help the team. The Spanish and European champions have not been at their peak this season and are still searching for the best way to incorporate the former Paris Saint-Germain superstar following his arrival this summer. Madrid lost on the road at Lille in their last Champions League outing and host Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday in a rematch of last season’s final, which they won to earn a record-extending 15th European crown. “I prefer that (Mbappe) scores goals than he…
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Monday, filed 14 fresh charges of alleged N5.78 billion fraud against the former Kwara State governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed, and his Commissioner of Finance, Mr Ademola Banu, before a Kwara State High Court presided by Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar. The duo were charged with alleged diversion and misappropriation of public funds meant for the execution of some projects and security of the state. The fresh re-arraignment of the former governor and his finance commissioner followed the withdrawal of the case last week Wednesday from the Federal High Court, Ilorin where they were formerly standing trial…
Nigerian comedian, actor, and singer Oluwadolarz has shared a shocking revelation about an encounter with an unnamed influential figure in the entertainment industry. Taking to his Instagram story, Oluwadolarz alleged that the individual demanded sexual favours in exchange for promoting his music, endorsing his songs, and helping him top the charts. According to his post, the entertainer allegedly told him, “You will promote my songs. Endorse my music. Help me top chart. But make I first bend over make you enter my Yansh.” The accusation has stirred reactions across social media, with users expressing their thoughts on the matter.…
Atletico Madrid came from behind to keep up their unbeaten start to the LaLiga season by defeating CD Leganes 3-1 at the Civitas Metropolitano, extending the visitors’ winless run in the league to eight matches. Closing the seven-point gap to Barcelona and Real Madrid at the LaLiga summit was the order of the day for Atletico Madrid, yet a tepid start to proceedings invited pressure on the hosts. Clear-cut chances were at a premium for Atletico despite their dominance of possession, though Alexander Sorloth squandered a huge chance at the back post, failing to react in time to Koke’s inviting…
Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior’s goals earned Real Madrid an entertaining 2-1 win at Celta Vigo on Saturday to pull them level with La Liga leaders Barcelona. France striker Mbappe started and sent the Spanish champions ahead amid reports he is being investigated for an alleged rape during a visit to Sweden. The 25-year-old was criticised in his homeland for not appearing in his country’s recent Nations League matches before the Swedish media reports emerged following his trip during the international break, which Mbappe labelled “fake news”. Williot Swedberg levelled for Celta, who might have snatched a draw, but Vinicius…
Mario Gila’s late own-goal secured all three points for Juventus as they defeated Lazio 1-0 at the Allianz Stadium to continue their unbeaten start to the Serie A (SA) campaign. The hosts had proven to be a tough nut to crack so far this campaign, conceding just once in their opening seven games of the SA season. However, prior to kick-off, only Inter Milan and Atalanta BC had scored more than Lazio’s 14 league goals, which suggested this would be a tough test of the hosts’ defensive stability. In the first half, though, Juve dealt well with their opponents, even…
Bournemouth claimed a hard-fought Premier League victory over 10-man Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium, ending a run of five successive head-to-head defeats. Missing for just a fourth Premier League match since the 2021/22 campaign, Bukayo Saka’s absence may well have contributed to a subdued opening 25 minutes on the South Coast. However, a moment of contention on the half-hour mark changed the complexion of the contest when William Saliba tangled with Evanilson. Referee Robert Jones initially awarded the centre-back a yellow card for taking down the Bournemouth forward who was racing in behind the Arsenal defence, but after VAR intervened,…
Newcastle’s 11-match unbeaten Premier League (PL) home run ground to a crashing halt as they were beaten 1-0 at St James’ Park by Brighton & Hove Albion, who maintained their impressive start to the season. Only goal difference separated Newcastle and Brighton in the table prior to today, and the pair were similarly closely matched on the pitch in the opening exchanges. Goalmouth action was few and far between, and even when a solid opening did arrive, Alexander Isak’s air kick with the goal at his mercy was somewhat symptomatic of both sides’ struggles. The Swede was at the heart…
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Paulinus Ani before Justice Mohammed Garba Umar at the Federal High Court in Enugu State on allegations of land fraud amounting to N8.1 million. Ani is facing a one-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence, a violation of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act. According to the EFCC, between October 2015 and June 2018, Ani allegedly deceived one Severus Ifeanyi Odoziobodo into paying N8,130,000 for seven plots of land in Enugu. The purported transaction included three plots at Emene Industrial/Residential Layout and four plots at Independence…
